Why vials?
At Flakon, our mission is to bring wine into the 21st century by making it more accessible through magical tasting experiences ✨

Wine is an incredible world to explore, and we want to give you everything you need to make the most of the journey.
Why this format?
That’s why we’re convinced that a vial is currently the best way to enjoy several wines side by side, making them much easier to compare.
Normally, this kind of side-by-side tasting of several wines is reserved for wine clubs or private events, where several bottles can be ordered and shared among guests.
We know not everyone has the chance (or the desire!) to attend events like these, so we set out to find the best way to recreate the experience at home. So far, vials are the best solution we’ve found!
A glass vial holds 10cl, a generous tasting measure that lets you fully enjoy a glass of each wine without having to finish the bottle.
Where do our vials come from?
We get our vials from our fantastic supplier partner based in Bordeaux. Vials were originally invented so that the great Bordeaux châteaux could send wine samples to professionals instead of whole bottles. Today, we work hand in hand with our partner to bring this format to the wider public.
Our supplier partner uses a special machine to transfer wine from bottles into vials without exposing it to air. This prevents the precious liquid from oxidising, so the wine retains all its aromas, colour and flavour for years!

Few people know this, but a well-made screw cap protects wine just as well as, or even better than, a traditional cork. No cork taint, a perfectly controlled seal, storage upright or on its side, and the ability to control gas exchange through different types of liner: these are the main advantages of a screw cap.
Fun fact: the French are world champions when it comes to corkscrews, with an average of one or two per household. In China, by contrast, there’s just one corkscrew for every fifteen homes. That’s why screw caps are essential in the rest of the world, even for very high-quality wines.
