The winemaker and his story

Denis Lurton has been at the helm of this 1855 Third Growth for around thirty years. He has brought it into the 21st century by investing both in its facilities and in adapting the vineyard to his vision of wine.

When he arrived in 1992, he chose to make a wine that was both modern—enjoyable while still young—and retained the elegance and ageing potential characteristic of Margaux wines.

He carries on the legacy of an estate whose name has a long history, having been associated with winemaking in the Médoc since 1741. That was the year Jean-Baptiste Desmirail gave his name to the estate that his wife, Mademoiselle Marguerite Rauzan du Ribail, brought to their marriage as a dowry.
