The winemaker and his story

Located in Rivesaltes, in the heart of Roussillon between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea, Maison CAZES was founded in 1895 by Michel Cazes.

The 220-hectare estate is ideally situated on land at the foot of the Corbières foothills, in the Agly Valley.

The predominantly clay-limestone soils are strewn with schist fragments and siliceous pebbles, a combination exceptionally well suited to producing great wines.

Domaine Cazes celebrates 25 years since its conversion to biodynamic farming.

The tasting

Appearance: Seven years in wood have given its bright, luminous colour mahogany tones: a blend of orange, red and copper hues.

Nose: An intense nose combining spices, coffee and cocoa with the sweetness of candied fruit. Complex aromas of walnut, caramel and roasted notes rise from the glass.

Palate: Roasted flavours unfold on the palate, from ganache to coffee liqueur, with notes of prune. Roundness, ripe fruit, a hint of dried fruit, and smoky notes of tobacco and roasting. A long finish that fades with freshness.
