The winemaker and his story

Welcome to Château Musar.

Located in the Jounieh region, Château Musar was founded in the 1930s by Gaston Hochar. It produces quality white, rosé and red wines. His son, Serge Hochard, who was predestined to become an engineer, decided to study oenology and with his father's encouragement became a student of Emile Peynaud at the Bordeaux University of Oenology.

The Gouws family's winemaking history began in 1691. Ernst traveled to Europe (France and Germany) in 1975 to learn the art of winemaking.

On his farm, the grapes are harvested by hand in the Stellenbosch terroir, known worldwide for producing quality fruity wines.
